ABOUT EAGLEVILLE GREEN

Eagleville Green is a new rental community coming soon to Storrs, CT. It will be a 42 unit, mixed income development located on the south edge of the UConn campus. Eagleville Green will be a quiet, family friendly complex with close proximity to local amenities and employment opportunities that will allow residents to live and work in the Mansfield community. Zoning and Wetlands approvals for the project have been granted by the Town of Mansfield and funding is being secured.

Owned by the Mansfield Nonprofit Housing Development Corporation, the Eagleville Green property is a 5.2 acre parcel at 113-121 South Eagleville Road. It currently has two existing homes. One of the existing homes will be torn down and the other will be rehabbed. For more about mixed income housing, see the Affordable Housing FAQ.

The Nonprofit is seeking funding for Eagleville Green is coming from various federal, state and charitable housing programs as well as private donors. While there is no direct cost to the town or taxpayers, the town, in support of this project has entered into a Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement to reduce the tax burden on the development.

Providing both affordable and market rate units, Eagleville Green is designed to be financially sustainable. The exact breakdown between affordable and market rate units, and the financial requirements to qualify for affordable units will ultimately be determined by our funding sources’ terms but at least 30% of the units will be rented as affordable housing.

Market rate units are for anyone who can pay the full rent and is approved through the screening process. Section 8 vouchers will be accepted on market rate units. Affordable units are for anyone who qualifies financially and programmatically for the affordable rate and is approved through the screening process.

Eagleville Green will be designed to fit into the community. The materials and design will be consistent with local New England architecture. To the greatest extent possible, it will be built to a sustainable, energy efficient standard called Passive House which employs rigorous standards for energy efficiency that reduce a building’s ecological footprint. To learn more about Passive House design see Wikipedia and Passive Housing Institute US (PHIUS).
